About WikiDerby
WikiDerby is a browser game about racing through Wikipedia. You start on one article, you finish on another, and the only way across is the links inside the pages themselves.
How a race works
Every race is a start article and a target article. You read what is in front of you, pick the link you think moves you closer, and click it. There is no search box and no address bar — the only moves available are the ones the current article gives you. A good route is usually a short one, so the game rewards knowing which subjects connect to which, not how fast you can type.
Articles come live from Wikipedia, so the board changes as Wikipedia does.
Ways to play
- Single player — race on your own, against the clock and your own move count.
- Multiplayer — race other people in real time and watch the field move through the same articles you are reading.
- Ranked — matches that move an Elo rating, so wins are measured against players of roughly your own standard.
Cosmetics
Cursors and trails change how you appear to other players in a lobby. They are decoration: nothing you can buy or unlock affects how a race is decided.
